Most "lay flat" recliners stop around 165°. Every chair on this page reclines to a full 180° — backrest and footrest in one horizontal line — and still lifts you to standing.
12 models, 300 lb to 400 lb, petite to big & tall. On the 9188E, 9188ET, 9205 and 9205L the footrest keeps rising past flat, so your legs rest above your hips.
Two motors move the backrest and the footrest independently, so you can stop at any angle from 105° upright to 180° flat. 180° means the chair lies level, head to heel. Infinite position means you can hold any angle in between. Every model on this page does both.
The 500 lb models (9188 EWT500, 9205 EWT500) recline to 165°. The 9219 Zero Gravity reclines to 160°. The 9185 Petite reclines to 165°. If you need one of those, start there instead: Heavy Duty 400–500 lb → Zero Gravity →
Every model lists a recommended height range. Start there — a chair that is too short leaves your head unsupported when it is flat.
Standard seats are 23". Wide-seat models run 26" to 27.5". Measure the room you want between the armrests.
300 lb, 350 lb or 400 lb on this page. Need 500 lb? The 500 lb models recline to 165° and live on the Heavy Duty page.
Dual motor moves back and footrest independently — that is what makes 180° possible. Triple motor adds a power headrest on top.
Five fit groups. Pick your group by height and seat width first, then choose colors.
A true 180°, head to heel. On these models the footrest stops level; it does not rise above the seat.
23" seat, 300 lb. The classic 9188 and its triple-motor version.
Extended footrest and a taller back for longer legs and torsos.
More room between the armrests, 400 lb, standard footrest length. 9188E and 9205: footrest rises above flat.
Wide seat and extended footrest together, 400 lb. 9188ET and 9205L: footrest rises above flat.
An 18" seat on a shorter frame, with a power headrest.
Those models recline to 160°–165°, not 180°, so they are listed on their own pages. Heavy Duty 400–500 lb → Zero Gravity → 9185 Petite →
Owners do. The chair lies level at 180°, and on most models the armrest cushions detach to use as a pillow. It is a recliner, not a mattress — try a night during the 35-day trial. One 9205 owner: "At 80 years old, especially for sleeping, this recliner has been wonderful."
Lay flat is the end point — the chair lying level at 180°. Infinite position is the ability to stop and hold any angle between upright and flat. Every chair on this page does both, because the backrest and footrest are driven by separate motors.
No. Dual motor already gives the full 180°. The third motor on the Pro models adds an independent power headrest, so you can tilt your head without moving the back.
The 500 lb models (9188 EWT500 and 9205 EWT500, 165°), the 9219 Zero Gravity (160°) and the 9185 Petite (165°). They are not on this page.
On the 9188E, 9188ET, 9205 and 9205L, the footrest keeps rising after the chair is level, so your legs rest above your hips. The 9188, 9199 and the small models stop at level — a true 180°, footrest even with the seat.
