26"–27.5" seats, rated 400 lb, for users up to 6'3". Three models on a standard-height frame with more room across the seat than our 23" standard chairs. If you are taller than 6'3" or need 500 lb, the right chair is on another page — we point you there below.
Our standard 9188 has a 23" seat and is rated 300 lb for users 5'2"–5'9". The three chairs on this page keep a similar frame height but open the seat up: 26" on the 9188E and 9188E Pro, 27.5" on the 9205, all rated 400 lb, for users roughly 5'5"–6'3". That is what we mean by oversized and wide seat.
Two things it does not mean. It is not a chair for taller bodies — the backrest and footrest are standard length; the extended-footrest models are on the Big & Tall page. And it is not a "big man" chair in the sense most US brands use the phrase — that usually means a 500 lb, 30.5"-seat frame, which is our Heavy Duty 400–500 lb page.
9188 family. 300 lb, 5'2"–5'9". Fits most people; choose it if your seated hip width leaves room to spare at 23".
9188E and 9188E Pro, on this page. 400 lb, 5'5"–6'3". The same chair height as standard with three more inches across the seat.
9205, on this page. 400 lb, 5'7"–6'3". Our widest 400 lb seat on a standard-height frame, with a plush pillow back.
9188ET (to 6'7") and 9205L (to 6'6"). 400 lb. Choose these if you are over 6'3" — the footrest carries long legs to the heel.
9188 EWT500 and 9205 EWT500. The widest and strongest frames we make, for users to 6'7" and 500 lb.
Sit on a firm chair and measure across the widest point of your hips. Add room to shift — if 23" feels tight, 26" is the next step; if you are also tall or over 400 lb, go to the pages above.
Seated hip width decides between 23", 26", 27.5" and 30.5". The 9205 has the most seat room on this page.
All three fit up to 6'3". Over that, the backrest is too short and the footrest ends above the heel — go to Big & Tall.
400 lb on all three. Pick a rating above your weight, not at it; over 400 lb, go to Heavy Duty.
9188E and 9205: dual motor, back and footrest move independently. 9188E Pro: triple motor adds a powered headrest and an all-in-one remote.
On the 9188E and 9205 the footrest keeps rising past level, so you can rest your legs above hip height when lying flat.
Chenille, faux leather and top grain leather. The cards below count only colours in stock.

Same frame height as our standard chair, three inches more seat.
Our widest 400 lb seat on a standard-height frame.
26" across the seat, 21.5" deep, 20" seat height, 38" overall width, 46" back height and 76.5" reclined, rated 400 lb for users 5'5"–6'3". The 9205 is wider still: 27.5" seat, 40.5" overall, 77.5" reclined, for 5'7"–6'3".
Allow clearance behind the backrest to recline and in front for the footrest.
Seat width first. Then height. Then weight.
Big & Tall → for users over 6'3": the 9188ET and 9205L keep a 26"–27.5" seat and add an extended footrest. Heavy Duty 400–500 lb → for 500 lb and a 30.5" seat. Standard → if 23" fits and you want the lower price.
A seat 26" or 27.5" wide and a 400 lb rating on a standard-height frame — the 9188E, 9188E Pro and 9205. Our standard chairs have a 23" seat and are rated 300 lb; our heavy duty chairs have a 30.5" seat and are rated 500 lb.
Check three numbers: your seated hip width against the 26" or 27.5" seat, your height against the 5'5"–6'3" range (5'7"–6'3" for the 9205), and your weight against the 400 lb rating. If any one of them is over, choose from Big & Tall or Heavy Duty instead.
Oversized means a wider seat at standard height. Big & Tall adds a taller back and an extended footrest for users over 6'3". Heavy duty means 500 lb and a 30.5" seat. Start with whichever number you exceed first: height sends you to Big & Tall, weight or hip width over 27.5" sends you to Heavy Duty.
Most US brands use "big man" for a 500 lb, 30.5"-seat chair. That is our Heavy Duty page. The chairs here are for people who want more seat room than a standard chair but are under 6'3" and 400 lb.
All three recline from 105° to 180° — a true lay-flat. On the 9188E and 9205 the footrest keeps rising past level, so your legs can rest above hip height when you lie flat.
The 9188E is 38" wide and 76.5" long reclined; the 9205 is 40.5" wide and 77.5" long reclined. Allow clearance behind the backrest to recline and in front for the footrest.
Same 26" seat, 400 lb rating and height range. The Pro adds a third motor for a powered headrest, an all-in-one remote with memory positions, and comes in top grain leather and chenille.
The 9188E ships in 3 boxes and the 9205 in 2; each product page lists its own box count. Free shipping in the contiguous US; in-home assembly is available as an add-on.
