What "standard fit" means here

One size, measured: 5'2"–5'9", 23" seat, 300–350 lb.

Height 5'2"–5'9"

The backrest reaches the head and the footrest ends under the heel for people in this range. The 9219 zero gravity is a touch tighter at 5'5"–5'9".

Seat 23" wide

23" across the seat, 20.5" deep, 18.5" off the floor on the 9188 — a seat that holds you rather than swallows you. The 9219 is 23.5".

300–350 lb

300 lb on the 9188, 9199 and 9219; 350 lb on the 9188 Pro. Pick a rating above your weight, not at it.

Taller than 5'9"?

Go to Tall (to 6'5") or Big & Tall (to 6'7"). A standard chair will leave your feet past the footrest.

Need more seat room or more capacity?

Oversized & Wide Seat for 26"–27.5" seats at 400 lb; Heavy Duty for 500 lb.

Shorter than 5'2"?

The 9188S Pro (4'7"–5'5") and 9185 (4'8"–5'7") have smaller 20.5"–22" seats. Find them on the Petite page.

Which of the four?

Same fit. Four different reasons to pick one.

9188 · the best-seller

Dual motor, 180° lay-flat, lumbar heat and massage, the most colours. The chair most of our customers choose, at the lowest price on this page.

9188 Pro · headrest and one remote

The 9188 with a third motor for the headrest, an all-in-one remote with two memory positions, USB-A and USB-C, rated 350 lb.

9199 · the wingback

The same frame in a traditional button-tufted wingback with rolled arms. Dual motor, 180° lay-flat, heat and massage.

9219 · zero gravity

Four motors — one for the backrest, one for the footrest and two that drive the zero-gravity movement — and a position that lifts the legs above the heart. Reclines 105°–160°, not flat. Top grain leather only.

Lay-flat or zero gravity?

Lay-flat (9188, 9188 Pro, 9199) is for sleeping in the chair. Zero gravity (9219) is for taking pressure off the back and legs while awake.

Questions

Standard fit lift recliner FAQ

Who is a standard fit lift recliner for?

People about 5'2" to 5'9" who sit comfortably in a 23" seat and weigh under 300 lb (350 lb on the 9188 Pro). That covers most adults — it is the size we sell most.

How do I know if 23" is wide enough?

Sit on a firm chair and measure across the widest point of your hips. If you have room to shift at 23", standard fits. If it feels tight, the Oversized page has 26" and 27.5" seats at the same height range.

What is the difference between the 9188 and the 9188 Pro?

Same frame, seat and height range. The Pro adds a third motor for the headrest, an all-in-one remote with two memory positions, USB-A and USB-C ports, and is rated 350 lb instead of 300 lb.

Is the 9199 the same size as the 9188?

Yes — the same 23" seat, 73" reclined length, 300 lb rating and 5'2"–5'9" range. The 9199 is the traditional button-tufted wingback version with rolled arms.

What does zero gravity mean on the 9219?

A reclined position with the legs raised above the heart, which takes weight off the lower back and legs. Four motors drive it: one for the backrest, one for the footrest and two for the zero-gravity movement itself. The 9219 reclines to 160° and does not lie flat; the other three on this page do.

Do standard fit chairs lie flat?

The 9188, 9188 Pro and 9199 recline to a true 180° lay-flat. The 9219 zero gravity stops at 160°.

I am 5'10". Can I still use a standard chair?

You can sit in it, but the footrest will end above your heel and the backrest will sit low. The Tall page (9188T, to 6'5") has the same seat width with an extended footrest and taller back.

How does it ship?

The 9188, 9188 Pro and 9199 ship in 2 boxes; the 9219 ships in 3. Free shipping in the contiguous US; in-home assembly is available as an add-on.
