How to choose a lift chair

How to choose a lift chair

Choose the Right Lift Recliner for Your Comfort and Needs

1. Weight Capacity

A key factor to consider. Choose according to the user's body weight:

  • Standard (300–350 lbs) – Fits most users
  • Heavy-Duty (350–500 lbs) – For larger individuals or those needing extra support

Recommended Models:

  • Model  9188(Medium)/9188T(Tall) – 300 lbs capacity, standard size
  • Model  9188E(Large-Wide)/9205(Large-Wide) - 400 lbs capacity, large man
  • Model EW500 – 500 lbs capacity, reinforced frame, wider seat

Recommendation: Choose a model slightly above your actual weight. For example, opt for a 500-lb capacity chair if you weigh 450 lbs to ensure durability and reduce wear on mechanical components.

2. Height Compatibility

Seat Depth & Backrest Height:

  • Small: Seat depth 18–20 inches; standard backrest height.
  • Medium: Seat depth 20–22 inches; backrest should support the neck.
  • Large: Seat depth ≥ 22 inches; for larger individuals.
  • Large-wide: Need more wider seat(≥27 inches).
  • Tall: Look for taller backrests (≥30 inches), and extended legroom.
  • Large-wide/Tall: 6'3"+,  wider seat(≥27 inches)

3. Fabric Options

1. Chenille

  • Care: Vacuum regularly; spot-clean with mild detergent.

2. Breathable Faux Leather

  • Assisted Standing: Gently tilts the seat forward to aid standing, ideal for seniors or post-surgery recovery.
  • Full Recline Mode: Converts into a flat bed for naps or overnight care.

Need suggestion-4’7", have fibromalagia aplus arthrisitis as neck base. Looking for softer flat no seams to make comfortable lift chair.. Neck probably requires shorter back but shoulders require low arms, want wider chair. Have purchased 2 lifts in past, after arrival had to donate, time is running out at 83 to live independently. Any suggestions-moved to small apt, years ago a bedroom wall away was perfect, co. out of business.
